Mission
TERNWAVES’ mission is to enable sovereign, resilient and sustainable Direct-to-Device satellite connectivity services for commercial, defense and mission-critical applications.
We aim to provide ubiquitous connectivity everywhere on Earth, including in remote, disaster-struck, GNSS-denied and contested environments, by leveraging existing satellite infrastructures already in orbit.
Solution
TERNWAVES has developed a proprietary asynchronous communication technology called “Golden Modulation”, enabling any type of device (smartphones, sensors, actuators, drones, vehicles, …) to communicate directly through GEO, MEO or LEO satellites at any time with low latency and from anywhere on Earth, including in GNSS-denied and contested environments.
Our solution delivers highly resilient, low-power and massively scalable Direct-to-Device connectivity services with unique resistance to jamming and ultra-low probability of detection and interception.
Unlike conventional approaches requiring the deployment of large new satellite constellations, TERNWAVES enables rapid service rollout by leveraging existing satellite infrastructures already in orbit, with commercial deployment targeted from 2027.
Success story with Orange
Yes. TERNWAVES and Orange jointly developed the GSM-XD (Global System for Mobile Communications Cross-Domains) demonstrator project, supported by the France 2030 program.
The project demonstrates sovereign Direct-to-Device (D2D) connectivity services over existing European GEO satellites for both commercial and mission-critical applications. GSM-XD is designed to provide highly resilient and ubiquitous outdoor connectivity, including in remote, GNSS-denied and contested environments, through a compact and affordable USB dongle compatible with any Android smartphone.
This collaboration demonstrates the feasibility of rapidly deploying resilient satellite connectivity services through the combination of Orange’s terrestrial network and TERNWAVES’ breakthrough D2D connectivity services.

TERNWAVES’ technology enables secure, resilient and ubiquitous connectivity where conventional terrestrial or satellite communication systems may fail, including in remote, disaster-struck, GNSS-denied and contested environments. Unlike some emerging D2D solutions limited to premium devices, our technology is designed to be accessible through affordable external devices compatible with standard smartphones, helping democratize access to satellite connectivity services.
Our solution supports critical use cases such as emergency response, defense operations, critical infrastructure protection, transportation, industrial and connectivity for isolated areas.
By leveraging existing satellites already in orbit, TERNWAVES also enables much faster deployment of D2D services while contributing to a more sustainable use of space infrastructure, reducing both deployment costs and the need for additional satellite constellations.
