CityTaps intends to expand access to clean water to improve health and quality of life in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. To that end, it created a smart water meter and a prepaid billing service to fully automate meter reading and payment service for water utilities. Users can now add any amount of credit to their accounts using any mobile phone at any time. Water utilities are also able to broaden their networks and serve even the poorest customers thanks to the guarantee of a prepaid service, all while reducing their operating costs by 20%.
