Embark in the New Space with Orange Open Innovation!
Context
Non-terrestrial and Hybrid networks are at the crossroads of 2 pillars of Lead the future_ Orange strategic plan: “capitalizing on our infrastructure” by developing new capabilities for our networks and “strengthening the customer excellence” by providing coverage extension and seamless experience in our B2C and B2B markets.
These evolutions of networks are part of the New space, the latest economy where Orange can identify additional growth drivers that serve our innovation priorities.
Open innovation with startups and strategic partnerships is key for Orange to enhance its satellite service offerings and maintain a competitive edge through faster market delivery, improved infrastructure, and long-term value creation in the New Space economy. Our team will identify opportunities for experimentation and facilitate access to the market for startups. From a European perspective, this is an intermediate step to nurture IRIS²1.
Through its expertise in various areas including ground infrastructure, virtualized networks, cloud services, optical communications, and cybersecurity, and its operation of a first-class international network, Orange can benefit from open innovation through partnerships with startups, focusing on satellite communications and create an ecosystem to enhance its offerings.
Needs
We have identified pivotal areas for collaboration with creative startups specializing with:
- Content distribution -To play a crucial role acting as a content distributor.
- Extension of rural and remote connectivity to improve coverage – To bridge the digital divide in rural and remote areas by leveraging the existing infrastructure, partnerships, and expertise to make satellite communication solutions accessible and affordable.
- Network optimization and resilience – To smart manage networks to offload traffic and to dynamically adjust resources based on real-time traffic demands. To offer backhaul for terrestrial mobile network and redundancy in case of network failure.
- Overall roaming for the transportation vertical – To facilitate multi-network roaming, enable specialized services like IoT and safety solutions.
- Connectivity to support IoT applications – To create value through new revenue streams, network optimization, competitive differentiation, and contributions to sustainability.
- Spectrum optimization (satellite and terrestrial networks). To create value by boosting network efficiency, expanding reach.
- Management of Telecom Infrastructure in Space – To manage and operate efficiently telecommunications infrastructure deployed in space.
- Drone Mobility Services – To develop specialized connectivity services for drones, ensuring reliable and secure operations in various environments.
